Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Approves 46 Development Projects Worth Over 54 Billion PKR

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has approved 46 major development projects worth over 54 billion PKR.

The projects (KPK 46 Development Projects) were sanctioned during the 13th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department, Mr. Ikramullah Khan.

The meeting was attended by officials from various departments and PDWP members.

Key Development Sectors:

1. Agriculture and Environmental Protection:

The government aims to improve agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability with several initiatives:

  • Boosting agricultural production capacity in merged districts
  • Soil fertility mapping across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Establishment of seed industry
  • Promotion of climate-smart and modern mechanized farming
  • Launch of Tele-Farming and Digital Services Platform
  • Introduction of quinoa cultivation along with farm forestry spaces

2. Education:

Education remains a priority with major projects to uplift the sector:

  • Establishment of new schools and provision of teachers in merged districts
  • Construction of BS Blocks, additional classrooms, and security facilities in various districts
  • Establishment of Girls Cadet College in Dera Ismail Khan
  • Activation of newly established colleges, including transport facilities

3. Health and Emergency Services:

The health sector will see significant improvements with the following projects:

  • Upgradation of emergency and accident units in merged districts
  • Modernization of DHQ hospitals to combat epidemics
  • Improvement of non-teaching DHQs across the province
  • Establishment of DHQ Hospital in Ghaziabad, Kolai Palas

4. Infrastructure and Irrigation:

Infrastructure development will strengthen connectivity and irrigation systems:

  • Construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges in Charsadda
  • Restoration of Palai Dam Canal System and Tangi Irrigation Scheme
  • Construction of irrigation system for Mohmand Dam
  • Feasibility study of irrigation schemes in Dera Ismail Khan
  • Mining monitoring and geological mapping in mineral-rich areas

5. Judicial System and Human Rights:

To improve the judicial system and human rights services, the following projects were approved:

  • Construction of Tehsil Judicial Complexes in Balakot, Patan, and Sarai Naurang
  • Establishment of Provincial Directorate of Human Rights and District Resource Centers

6. Rescue and Emergency Services:

Emergency services will be expanded to enhance public safety:

  • Establishment of Rescue 1122 services at Tehsil level
  • Expansion of emergency rescue services to counter landmine incidents
  • Creation of Camp Management Unit under PDMA for displaced persons

7. Tourism and Culture:

The government will promote tourism and cultural heritage with the organization of major tourism festivals across the province.

8. Economic Development Projects:

Several projects aim to boost the province’s economy:

  • Development of Regional GDP and Economic Indicators
  • Establishment of Common Facility Centers (CFCs) in different regions
