In May 2011, under the guidance of the KPK Assembly, the KPK Information Technology Board was established as a public sector entity.
“Our vision is to bring a systematic digital transformation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa by leveraging Information and Communication Technologies for job creation, connectivity, empowerment, and inclusive economic growth” is the motto of the KPITB.

Vision and Mission of KPITB
It was established with a clear vision to turn KPK into a center of technology and a strong part of Pakistan’s IT sector.
Its mission is to promote IT education, create job opportunities, and improve government services by using digital solutions.
Key objectives Include:
- Promotion of IT education: KPITB runs various programs to teach and train young people in important IT skills.
- Job creation through IT: KPITB helps young people by giving them IT skills so they can find freelancing opportunities both locally and globally.
- Enhancing governance through technology: KPITB is working to digitize government services to make them easier to access and more efficient for the public.
Major Achievements of KPITB:
In the last ten years, KPITB has made great progress in developing the IT sector in KPK. Here are some of their main accomplishments,
- Durshal: A flagship initiative aimed at encouraging tech entrepreneurship and innovation by providing incubation centers for startups across KP.
- Online Admissions System (OCAS): A system that simplifies the college admissions process, making it quicker and easier for students to apply and get accepted.
- Digital Skills Training Programs: Various programs are being offered to teach young people useful digital skills, especially in the merged districts, to help them find jobs.
- Software Technology Parks (STPs) – KPITB has set up several Software Technology Parks (STPs) in cities like Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Swat. These parks offer affordable workspaces equipped with IT facilities for tech companies and startups.
- Technology Zone Mardan: This zone aims to create a technology-focused environment that promotes new ideas, supports business growth, and creates job opportunities.

- Dastak: Arms licenses are issued and managed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make the process easier and more efficient.
- Paymir: An authorized digital payment platform in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that simplifies online transactions for various government services and utilities
- KP Web Portal App: The KP Web Portal App serves as a one-stop platform for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents, providing easy access to government services, job opportunities, tenders, and important updates, all in a user-friendly format
- Zama KP: Revolutionary mobile application launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, aimed at simplifying the payment of provincial taxes
- KP Super App: Designed to be a one-stop platform for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents, offering easy access to various government services and information all in one place
- KP Transport: A new initiative launched by the Transport Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve the way drivers manage their licenses.
- KP Vehicle Inspection App: The Vehicle Inspection App helps government officials check vehicles quickly and easily, ensuring accurate inspections and making it simpler to approve or reject registrations

- Taleem Ghar: An educational platform launched by the KPK government to support, It offers engaging multimedia lessons and resources for various subjects, making learning accessible for students of different ages.

Challenges Faced by KPITB:
While KPITB has made tremendous progress, it faces certain challenges,
- Limited IT Infrastructure: In KPK many areas especially the rural population, don’t have proper infrastructure in IT like reliable internet and other facilities as well as the lack of education is also a reason to make the IT sector limited.
- Bridging the Digital Divide: The literacy gap between urban and rural populations remains a challenge. KPITB is working to bridge this gap through educational initiatives, but there is still a long way to go.
Future Plans and Goals of KPITB:
